Course overview

The Abrasive Wheels Awareness course is designed to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding required to safely use and handle abrasive wheels in the workplace. It is suitable for anyone who uses, changes or works in close proximity to abrasive wheel equipment.

This course covers the hazards associated with abrasive wheels, including the risk of breakage, incorrect mounting and unsafe use. Learners will develop an understanding of how to select the correct wheel for the task, inspect equipment before use and ensure it is fitted correctly.

Throughout the training, emphasis is placed on safe working practices, proper storage and handling of wheels, and the importance of following manufacturer guidance and legal requirements. Learners will also gain an understanding of relevant health and safety legislation, including the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER).

On successful completion, learners will have the knowledge and confidence to use abrasive  wheels safely, helping to reduce the risk of accidents and maintain a safe working environment.
