Michelle’s career has been wholly dedicated to training and the promotion of safety from the very beginning. After graduating from Bournemouth University, she began her journey as a Health, Safety & Environment trainer at Cornwall College Business, laying the foundations for what has become an exceptional career in health, safety and training.
Since then, Michelle has built extensive experience across a range of roles, including HSQE Advisor, SHEQ Advisor and Training & Development Manager, working across multiple sectors including marine, groundworks and construction. Her passion for raising standards and developing people has remained a constant throughout.
Michelle joined Champion Groundworks over 12 years ago as a SHEQ Administrator, at a time when the Health & Safety team was still growing. Initially focused on improving site safety across a range of groundworks projects, she was responsible for managing the training matrix and coordinating external training for an expanding workforce.
It quickly became clear that Michelle’s background in education, combined with her drive for continuous improvement, made her ideally suited to delivering training in-house. She soon began developing and delivering tailored training programmes, marking a pivotal moment in her career and laying the foundations for what is now Champion Training Solutions.
Her dedication and impact have not gone unnoticed. Michelle was nominated for the 2025 CITB 100 Most Influential Women in Construction Awards, recognising her significant contribution to improving safety standards both within Champion Groundworks and across the wider construction industry.
