Supporting Those Who Support Others: Veterans With Dogs Complete First Aid Training
On Monday 14th September, we were delighted to welcome the team from Veterans With Dogs to Champion Training Solutions for their Emergency First Aid at Work training.
The session provided attendees with practical, potentially life-saving skills and the confidence to respond effectively if someone becomes ill or injured. It was also a valuable opportunity for us to learn more about the charity’s remarkable work supporting members of the Armed Forces community.
About Veterans With Dogs
Veterans With Dogs is a UK charity dedicated to improving the lives of Armed Forces veterans who are living with mental health conditions, including post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and depression.
The charity breeds, raises and trains assistance dogs before carefully creating partnerships between the dogs and veterans who need their support. These highly trained dogs can provide reassurance, companionship and practical assistance, helping veterans to manage daily challenges and lead more independent lives.
The bond between a veteran and their assistance dog can help reduce social isolation, improve confidence and restore a greater sense of control. Veterans With Dogs provides comprehensive support throughout the process—from selecting and training each dog to establishing and maintaining a lifelong partnership between the veteran and their canine companion.
It is an incredibly worthwhile organisation, and we were proud to support members of its team through their first aid training.

Developing Confidence in an Emergency
Emergency First Aid at Work training is designed to give people the knowledge and practical ability to take action during the crucial first few minutes of an emergency.
During the course, attendees developed essential skills including assessing an emergency, managing an unresponsive casualty, performing CPR, using an automated external defibrillator and responding to incidents such as choking, bleeding, shock and minor injuries.
Although nobody wants to face a workplace emergency, having trained people available can make an enormous difference. Acting quickly and confidently can help prevent a situation from becoming more serious while professional medical assistance is on its way.
The practical nature of face-to-face training also gives learners the opportunity to ask questions, practise key techniques and receive guidance from an experienced trainer. This hands-on approach helps turn theoretical knowledge into skills that attendees feel confident applying in a real-life situation.
