Helping construction businesses save money on training costs
Champion Training Solutions is proud to be part of the CITB Employer Network, helping eligible construction businesses access high-quality training with valuable financial support.
Investing in workforce development is essential for maintaining safety, improving productivity and addressing skills gaps. However, the cost of training can sometimes make it difficult for businesses—particularly smaller employers—to provide their teams with all the development opportunities they need.
The CITB Employer Network is designed to make that process simpler and more affordable.
What is the CITB Employer Network?
The CITB Employer Network brings together CITB and construction employers at a local level. Its purpose is to help businesses access the right training and funding while ensuring that training provision reflects the immediate and future skills needs of the industry.
Instead of employers having to navigate complicated funding applications independently, the Employer Network provides a more straightforward route to subsidised training.
By being part of the network, Champion Training Solutions can help eligible businesses identify their training requirements and understand the funding support that may be available.
What funding can businesses access?
From April 2026, CITB-registered employers with between one and 249 employees may be able to access:
- 50% match funding towards eligible training
- Fixed funding contributions for selected health and safety courses
- Annual funding of up to £1,500 for micro employers with 1–9 employees
- Annual funding of up to £2,000 for small employers with 10–49 employees
- Annual funding of up to £4,500 for medium employers with 50–249 employees
This financial support can significantly reduce the cost of training, allowing businesses to invest in more people, develop a wider range of skills and make their training budgets go further.
Large employers with 250 or more employees are supported separately through CITB’s Large Employer Fund.
What are the benefits for employers?
Reduced training costs
The most immediate benefit is the opportunity to access funded training. By reducing the amount an employer needs to contribute, the network makes workforce development more affordable and accessible.
A simpler funding process
The Employer Network has been created to remove some of the complexity traditionally associated with accessing training funding. Once eligible training has been arranged, the employer pays its agreed contribution and CITB funds the remaining amount.
Training that meets your business needs
The network is focused on providing the right training to the right people at the right time. This enables businesses to address current skills shortages, prepare employees for greater responsibility and respond to changing industry requirements.
A safer and more capable workforce
Regular training helps employees understand their responsibilities, work more confidently and follow safe working practices. It can also help businesses demonstrate their commitment to competence, compliance and continuous improvement.
Support for the local construction industry
Employer Networks allow businesses to contribute to conversations about local training priorities. This helps CITB and training providers understand where skills gaps exist and which courses are most needed within the region.
Who may be eligible?
To benefit from the CITB Employer Network, businesses will generally need to be CITB registered and meet the relevant eligibility requirements.
Funding is budget-led and subject to availability, and annual caps apply according to employer size. Some types of training are funded through other CITB grant routes, while certain courses—including First Aid—are not currently supported through Employer Network funding.
Eligibility and funding should therefore always be confirmed before training is booked.
